Welcome to my blog! I must admit that this is my first blog and (like everything I do) if there are norms and etiquettes of blogging I will be breaking them shortly. I'm not quite sure how to begin, (the picture of the charging buffalo is probably a good start) so let’s begin with a disclaimer...
They say that one of the most important aspects of good writing is that you know your target audience. I could go into the specifics of this but no one really cares and it is becoming apparent to me that this “gem” doesn't really apply for two reasons. The first reason would be that this rule is outdated. This is the inter-web; anyone, anywhere could be in my audience. Secondly, as it applies to this blog specifically, I have no audience. I seem to be writing this purely out of some psychological need to communicate with myself over the inter-web. (We will get more into that down the road) This said, I must apologize, because this blog (whatever it is, or may eventually become) probably will never be written with you in mind; so whatever cunning, whit, cleverness, humor, cynicism, dramatic effect, etc. I may think I am employing, it will probably come off as stale and uninteresting as... a church social, blind dates, the life-time channel, Danny Glover’s acting, debates about abortion, Mormon weddings, and last but not least—a PowerPoint presentation. Disclaimer over.
So what do people blog about anyway? As a new blogger it is my stigma that bloggers fit into two groups; Group 1: those people who want to yammer on endlessly about their kids and, Group 2, those who want to yammer on about their problems or lack thereof. I will try to be (in my non-experience) a new type of blogger. I have no kids (that I know of) and I am too sick of my own problems to want to immortalize them in words. I will try to be engaging, I will try to use the word hodge-podge as much as possible, and make fun of people who deserve it, ill try to be consistent, and explain the picture of the charging buffalo. if you are my only reader I will try to be more interesting so you can have buddies to make comments around the water cooler with, i'll try not to bum you out, or talk about my non-existent kids, career or dating life. ABOVE ALL, I promise none of the above.
I have high hopes that this blog will be clever and stimulating for all involved (so far just me) in what I have called the Burden of Inspiration -- A hodge-podge (see I told you) of things left unsaid, an analysis of you, my devoted readers (currently non-existent), society, life, and when all else fails to burden me with inspiration-- me. If this interests you please subscribe, it will pretty much make you president of my devoted readers. Let the burdens begin...
I am forced to get on the internet everyday to read homework, comments and emails from people I dont want to reply to, among other things. I find your blog to be.... well... I certainly have a mix of feelings as I go through. Ill be offended at one point and that will disappear with something I find to be funny or extremely honest, the things people dont say but are true. This I have chosen to read everyday because I enjoy the change of pace, The self criticism you openly place on yourself then compare it to something else is a clever way to draw people in. I really like it. I pretty much chuckle the whole way through. Keep writing. Your really good at it.
